I am always very excited to talk about the Power of Positive Confession. In much the same way of knowing such topics as “What is salvation?”, “Your identity in Christ,” “What is Faith and How to use it?” and “How to know your prayers are answered” are important subject matters that we will discuss in detail in other articles; the ones often left off the list is the “Power of Positive Confession.” Now, it would be easy for me to give you a bunch of scriptures that you should confess every day, which will make life much easier; however, my heart is to teach people how to be successful in the things of God themselves first and foremost and second to become genuinely a disciple of Christ—The first will motivate the second. That means with the doing comes the need for the understanding of the “What?”, “How?” and the “Why?” of confession.
"That means with the doing comes the need for the understanding
of the “What?”, “How?” and the “Why?” of confession."
So, let’s start with “What is confession?” In a very general sense of the word confession, it is to confess what one believes to be true. Therefore, this action is performed by speaking out loud statements of truth. The latter part of the last sentence of the word “truth” is subjective when considering its everyday use in society. To frame the use of the word truth with the word confession, let’s look at four different scriptures as a basis of biblical truth. Use the New Century Version for clarity:
Number 23:19 New Century Version
19 God is not a human being, and he will not lie. He is not a human, and he does not change his mind. What he says he will do, he does. What he promises, he makes come true.
1 Samuel 15:29 New Century Version
29 The LORD is the Eternal One of Israel. He does not lie or change his mind. He is not a human being, so he does not change his mind.”
Hebrews 6:18 New Century Version
18 These two things cannot change: God cannot lie when he makes a promise, and he cannot lie when he makes an oath. These things encourage us who came to God for safety. They give us strength to hold on to the hope
we have been given.
The Mechanics of the What? How? and Why?
From these three “Witnesses of scripture,” we know that is again saying the same thing in context; Numbers 23:19, 1 Samuel 15:29, and Hebrews 6:18 all say the one thing—God cannot lie. I have taught for many years that these specific scriptures are what I call “Contract Scriptures.” The Scriptures are saying God is bound by his own word; therefore, a contract of assurance to you that he is God and will fulfill his Word and Promises to you who believe. Now, to activate these three scriptures upon your behalf, you must first believe that God is (Hebrews 11:6), and second to approach God with the Faith which is given each one of us, which was discussed in Romans 12:3 who confessed with their mouth and believed with their heart that Jesus is Lord of all and that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9-10). Making a settled decision within you to believe God upon his written word, no matter what you hear, believe, or feel—nothing wavering moves you from belief and hope to Faith.
Now Faith is the Key
Faith is the key to accessing all of our salvation package (SOZO; Strong’s Greek 4982) and heavenly help that keeps the enemy in check (Deuteronomy 28:7, Colossians 2:15) and changes outcomes in the natural. However, it’s not until the act of confession occurs that the power (Dunamis; Strong’s Greek 1411) flows into words spoken, which reframes what is seen by the unseen and brings what began in the spiritual realm into the natural voiding out imminent concern. The imminent concern is such things as sickness and diseases (cancer, chronic illnesses, recovery from spiritual and mental unrest, etc.), claiming provision promised within God’s word (Philippians 4:19), and more. HOWEVER, this is NOT rubbing Aladdin’s lamp and getting three wishes from a magic genie. When confession is combined with the word of God, it becomes a biblical principle backed by all of heaven based upon the three contract scriptures mentioned earlier. Confessing the word of God or scriptures in the proper context produces divine results.

Finding the right scriptures to confess
Have you noticed all the scriptures throughout this whole article? It was intentional. It was a setup to bring this article to a close. As you become more accustomed to reading the word of God, you will find that the more and more you return to the word, the more the word will return to you. In other words, the Holy Spirit will bring things back to your remembrance, particularly in times of need regarding situations you may face.
Moreover, this is a promise in scripture. Let’s look at the following verse of scripture from the Amplified Bible Classic Edition (AMPC),
John 14:26 Amplified Bible Classic Edition
26 But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.
Okay, first the first part of the scripture is just overloaded with benefits of having the Holy Spirit in your life and being submitted to him whereby we find our help. But as we move past that did you notice the part of the scripture which said “He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you,” where Jesus was sharing with disciples the importance of him leaving so that the Holy Spirit would come in this place. Yes, not only will you get help from the Holy Spirit, but he also returns to you “The Word.” Now, to catch the importance of this, let’s look at another passage of scriptures found in John 1:1, which reads,
John 1:1 Amplified Bible Classic Edition
1 In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.
If I may roughly translate what we discover here, it is that the Holy Spirit will actually return Jesus to you as both the Logos (written) and the Rhema (spoken) word of God. Where I come from Bible teachers often taught that the word of God is living or alive (present tense). Therefore, the Holy Spirit will draw to your attention new revelation which allows you to take hold of and stand upon principle of the word especially in times of need.
Moreover, John chapter 1, verses two through four, references what is found in Genesis chapter 1. However, what truly sows together the point of the power of God’s word can be found in the following passages of scriptures:
Hebrews 1:3 New King James Version
3 Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high
Notice how the translators stated “By the word of His power.” The Word of God holds weight in all things.
Psalm 33:6 New King James Version
6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
Hebrews 11:3 New King James Version 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
Jeremiah 23:29 Amplified Bible 29 “Is not My word like fire [that consumes all that cannot endure the test]?” says the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks the [most stubborn] rock [in pieces]?
The Final Word is His
In other words, start with the scriptures found within this article to confess daily. More so, personalize it for yourself and your family. You will watch the power of God begin to transform your situation and circumstances to prosperity, success, and the peace that Jesus promised to leave you (3 John 1:2, Philippians 4:7). When doing life God’s way and following the Holy Spirit is supposed to be a pretty sweet life. Yes, even at the risk of sounding foolish, I will say that living without confessing the word of God within your daily walk is asking for a painful journey, especially when it doesn’t have to be. As a spirit in a wonderfully and fearfully made body created by God, he blesses you not to fight demons in the natural but takes his authority by his word and routes them out of your life and the lives of others. The word of God enhances the life we live on the earth while we are here, and it brings those things of heaven down to earth. Therefore, I leave you with this: Choose wisely your words, for life and death are in the tongue’s power; hence, choose life.
We conclude this article with the understanding that says is essential to the operation of your Faith.
Mark 11:23 New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition (NRSVUE) 23 Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and if you do not doubt in your heart but believe that what you say will come to pass, it will be done for you. Most importantly, we see in the back of the book, that we win and secure victory by the blood of the lamb (New Covenant) and the confess of our mouths.
Revelation 12:11 New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition (NRSVUE) 11 But they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not cling to life even in the face of death.God bless you and all your goings and all your doings.
God Bless
